Description

This book includes fifteen chapters in the field of bioenergy, agriculture, energy systems, and waste from environment using reactor configurations analysis for biorefinery processes. It discusses recent biorefineries for 1G, 1.5G, 2G, and 3G sugars or ethanol from lignocellulose biomass and some unexplored feedstocks. Different process parameters governing effective biomass pretreatment and production through different bioreactors configuration such as counter-current, percolation, plug-flow, and shrinking bed in enzymatic biomass hydrolysis and fuels and chemical production. In extend to production, life cycle assessment and circular economy in biorefinery process will be getting chapters from authors. It concludes with the latest topics on biorefineries, including reactor configurations prediction through AL/ML and optimizing through AI-driven simulations and Government regulations and policies to support circular economic initiatives from strategies for the transition to advanced bioethanol production.

Dr. Anuj Kumar Chandel is a professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Engineering School of Lorena, University of São Paulo, Brazil. He has over 22 years of experience working on various aspects of industrial biotechnology (production of industrial enzymes, biofuels, and bio-based products) and biomass conversion. He obtained his Ph.D. and then did three post-doctoral fellowships at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, Engineering School of Lorena, University of São Paulo, Brazil, and University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, USA. Dr. Chandel has worked in three biotech industries for 7 years at large scale operations dealing with fermentation, downstream processing and biomass conversion. His primary research interest is to develop sustainable processes for the bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass into renewable fuels and biochemicals by bridging the gap between research laboratories and industries.

Prof.Dr.Suresh Sundaramurthy is Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Convenor & Faculty In-charge, Central Research Facility at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, India. He completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from IIT Roorkee. He was the recipient of post-doctoral fellow awarded by IUSSTF, Govt. of India, and that time, he was associated at The City University of New York (CUNY), USA. He was also the recipient of visiting faculty and researcher awarded by Govt. of India. More than 15 years’ experience for teaching/research from MA-NIT Bhopal, Pondicherry University, IIT-Kanpur, ICMS-JNCASR, Bangalore, AIT-Thailand, and CUNY-USA. His teaching and research interest on catalysts, reactor design, environmental biotechnology, waste-to-energy, nanoengineered materials, biofuels, intermediates from CO2 and biomass decarbonization, green hydrogen.
